Real Madrid announced a ruthless new era under Alvaro Arbeloa by demolishing Monaco 6-1 in a Champions League masterclass.

Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior terrorised the visitors as Madrid surged to second place in the expanded league standings.

Mbappe wasted no time punishing his former club, opening the scoring inside five minutes with a precise finish following slick interplay in midfield.

Monaco briefly threatened on the counter, but Mbappe struck again with a simple tap-in after Vinicius’ devastating delivery.

Jordan Teze rattled the crossbar before the break, but Madrid emerged unstoppable after halftime.

Teenage sensation Franco Mastantuono made it 3-0 with his first Champions League goal after a sublime assist from Vinicius.

The Brazilian, previously jeered by his own fans, turned provider again as Thilo Kehrer inadvertently diverted his cross into his own net.

Vinicius then crowned his performance with a thunderous strike into the roof of the net.

Monaco capitalised on a rare error to pull one back, but Jude Bellingham restored Madrid’s five-goal cushion to complete the humiliation.
