The Association of Resident Doctors, Zamfara state chapter has announced readiness to join it’s National body and colleagues across Nigeria on the Nationwide strike which is set to commence on Monday, 12th January 2026.
This was disclosed by Dr. Mustapha Naumma, the Zamfara state Chapter President, Association of Resident Doctors while briefing journalists on the disappointment of the Federal Government over their demands and unwillingness of Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s led administration to contribute to the welfare of resident Doctors in Nigeria.
Recalled that the infinite strike action earlier staged by the Resident Doctors was suspended on the 29th of November 2025 inline with the Memorandum of Understanding, MOU that the Federal Government signed with the National Association of Resident Doctors NARD that they would undertake salient items out of the 19 demands placed by the NARD.
It is so disheartening that the Federal Government failed woefully in the terms of the MOU. Even the three they commenced implementation were neither executed on specifications nor given full attention in a complete period of one month.
The outright negligence of Federal government to set up a committee on the matters of urgence and importance to the NARD in a whole one month underscored the unwillingness on the part of the Federal Government and indeed the Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s led government to be committed to the well-being of Resident Doctors in Nigeria.
It is on this light that, that we convened a Congress to inform our colleagues in Zamfara state and the members of the Public that we have decided to stage an industrial strike from Monday,12th January 2026 by 12noon being the only language the Federal Government could understand in order to draw importance to the 19 demands earlier presented before the leadership of the executive council of Nigeria.national.
Dr. Naumma called on the influential members of the public to rise up and intervene, not only for the demands of resident Doctors but also for the health benefits of the teaming population of the Nigerians under the watch list of the residence Doctors across Nigeria.
