The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the second phase of the Nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, as part of efforts to deepen democratic participation and expand the voter database ahead of future elections.

The registration exercise, which began on January 5, will run until April 17, 2026, with eligible Nigerians encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to register or update their voter information.
INEC disclosed that the exercise will be conducted daily from 9:30am to 3:00pm at all INEC State Headquarters, Local Government Area (LGA) offices, as well as other designated registration centres nationwide.

According to the Commission, the process has been simplified to ensure that registration is quick, seamless, and accessible, particularly for first-time voters and citizens seeking corrections or transfers.

INEC urged Nigerians of voting age to participate actively in the exercise, noting that voter registration remains a critical pillar of credible elections and democratic governance.
