By Muhammad Ibrahim, Sokoto.
The defectors cited the efforts of Minister Bello Muhammad Goronyo in improving water supply, road construction, and providing employment opportunities for youths as their reasons for joining the APC.
The defectors include Alhaji Kabiru Tsohon Garin Dole, a prominent PDP member and opposition leader; Sidi Dan Gode; Musa Boyi, a former aide to the Councillor of Sabon Garin Dole Ward; Bashkir Ariya from Dan Waru; and Alhaji Tukur Dan Mutune from Sabon Garin Dole. They praised Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for their development and humanitarian efforts.
Minister Goronyo welcomed the defectors, assuring them of his commitment to working together for the development of the people.
These efforts, he said, have contributed to infrastructural and humanitarian projects in the area, earning him commendation from both the defectors and the wider community.
He also reassured Nigerians that the Sokoto–Badagry Superhighway project is on track for completion, despite claims that it had been halted.
The project, according to him, is part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at boosting socio-economic activities across the country.
Speaking on infrastructural development, the Minister said there has been tremendous improvement in water supply, road construction, and rehabilitation across Sokoto State.
On employment opportunities, he stated that the government has provided jobs for youths in the region.
On rural development, the Minister noted that projects are being implemented in rural areas, including solar power initiatives and improved healthcare services.
He added that he had received commendation from President Tinubu for his commitment to infrastructural development and reiterated his openness to welcoming more defectors from the PDP to the APC, citing his continued efforts to improve the lives of residents of Sokoto State.
