The Nnewichi community in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State has held its Day where awards were given to deserving men and women, who have contributed immensely to the development of the community.

The event held at the Obi of Nnewichi’s Palace on Saturday, January 3, 2026 brought together sons and daughters of Nnewichi home and in diaspora.

In attendance were: the Obis from all the quarters in Nnewichi, the Honourable Commissioner for Industry in Anambra State, Hon. Christian Udechukwu, Member Representing Nnewi North in Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Augustine Ike- Edoji, Chief Chinedu Jude Okwuosa( Nwachinagbaluogu), the CEO Louis Carter Group,Sir Louis Izuchukwu Onwugbenu (Okpata Ozuora Nnewi), Elder Sorge Egbuna, the President Nnewi Youth Forum, Hon. Ejimkeonye Ucheagwu, Hon. Ejike Ndubuizu, Col. Osigwe, among others.

The Obi of Nnewichi, Obi George Onyekaba JP (Obidiugwu) in a kolanut ritual prayed for peace and unity among the people of Nnewichi, charged them not to make themselves available to be used and dumped.

He stated that under the watch of the current President General of the community, Engr. Sir Emmanuel Udoka Chukwueloka, they started a project to build a befitting hall for the community and called for support for the completion of the hall.

Obidiugwu vowed that he would continue to protect the interest of his people in all angles.

Honourable Commissioner for Industry, Anambra State, Hon. Christian Udechukwu thanked everyone that participated to ensure that Nnewichi Day was a success.

He reminded the people of Nnewichi that it is their turn to produce the next Mayor of Nnewi North, and advised them to go inside, put their heads together to produce a suitable candidate to run under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

“Let’s us come together to build our community and make it the best of all” he called.

Engr. Sir Emmanuel Udoka Chukwueloka, the PG of Nzuko Agamniru Nnewichi Nnewi unveiled their administration agenda for the good people of Nnewichi Nnewi.

Hon. Uche Ojukwu, the Vice President of the Nnewi Big Brothers, whose President is High Chief Nnamdi Ejioforbiri (Urukanachukwu) said the vision of the group is to ensure that Nnewi is developed.

“We are here today to celebrate with the people of Nnewichi.We stand for development that is why we are here today to support our people in our own little way” he added.

The event witnessed award presentation, book launch, presentation of cup to Ezeobuo FC that won the Unity Match, and cultural displays.
