Zamfara: Anglican Bishop lauds Gov Lawal for infirming insecurity, solicits Gov’t intervention over delayed land dispute

The Bishop of the Anglican Communion Church of Nigeria, Gusau Diocese, Rt. Rev. Dr. John Garba Danbinta has lauded the concerted effort of Governor Dauda Lawal in ensuring the total eradication of insecurity in the state.

He also solicited the intervention of the state Government over the long-standing demolition of St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, calling on the state government to either grant a building permit or compensate the congregation.

These were disclosed in a communique issued at the end of the Second Session of the Ninth Synod of the Anglican Diocese of Gusau held at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, Gusau, Zamfara state capital.

The Synod also lamented the rising insecurity, banditry and lauded the state government’s interference that weakened insecurities.

The Bishop lauded Governor Dauda Lawal for rejecting negotiations with bandits and urged the government at all levels to prioritize security, economic stability, and justice.

The communique, which was signed by Rev. Canon Ezekiel Solomon, Synod Clerical Secretary, Chief Barrister. Dr. J. D Ephraim, Diocesan Chancellor and Rt. Revd. Dr. John Garba Danbinta Bishop, Anglican Diocese of Gusau, reads in parts: “The second session of the Ninth synod of the Anglican Diocese of Gusau held at St. Stephen’s Church, Gusa,u from Friday 28th to Sunday 30th November, 2025, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, with the theme “Looking Unto Jesus” (Hebrews 12:1-2).

Concerning the State of the Nation, “Synod encourages Christians to remain prayerful, hopeful, and committed to peace and righteousness.

“The Synod concluded by thanking God for a successful meeting and reaffirms the call for believers to continually look unto Jesus for strength and guidance”.

Those in attendance included the House of Bishops 1, the House of Clergy: 17, and the House of the Laity: 63.
