The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) National Cultural Troupe has been honoured with a prestigious award by Nigeria’s Minister of Youth Development, Mr. Ayodele Olawande, following a show-stopping performance at the 2025 International Youth Day celebration in Abuja.
The award recognizes the troupe’s electrifying display of culture and creativity—marked by gravity-defying acrobatics, rich musical rhythms, and tightly choreographed dance routines—that brought the audience to its feet. The performance took place at the main auditorium of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, Piwoyi, Abuja, during the globally observed youth-focused event.
Presenting the award plaque to NYSC management, the President of the National Cultural Troupe, Corps Member Pelumi Oni (FC/24C/11420), credited the achievement to the supportive environment created by the NYSC leadership.
“The Scheme has given us the platform and encouragement to express ourselves and showcase our talents,” Oni said, noting that consistent backing from management motivated troupe members to deliver excellence during rehearsals and live performances.
Receiving the plaque on behalf of the NYSC Director-General, the Acting Director of Community Development Service (CDS) and Special Projects, Mrs. Funmilayo Ajayi, praised the dedication of the troupe’s supervisors, describing their training and mentorship as instrumental to the group’s growing list of accolades.
Ajayi also lauded the Corps members for their creativity and ingenuity, emphasizing their role as cultural ambassadors who project Nigeria’s rich heritage while serving the nation.
The recognition adds to a series of recent honours earned by the NYSC Cultural Troupe, reinforcing its status as a vibrant symbol of youth talent, unity, and national pride.
