The Sifawa Development Forum (SDF) has condemned the false narratives and doctored videos circulating about the former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahaya (Rtd.), stating that they are designed to tarnish his reputation and that of the Nigerian Army.
The SDF affirmed Gen. Yahaya’s distinguished legacy, highlighting his professionalism, courage, and exceptional leadership in various command and staff positions, including:
Garrison Commander, Guards Brigade Garrison; Directing Staff, Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji; Chief of Army Staff (2021–2023); and Zarumman Sokoto Caliphate (2023–present).
The forum described Gen. Yahaya as a symbol of integrity, patriotism, and professional excellence, and expressed support for legal action against those spreading misinformation.
The SDF also highlighted Gen. Yahaya’s commitment to institutional development, mentorship, and meritocracy, citing his appointment of capable officers such as Lt. Gen. T. A. Lagbaja and Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede.
The forum expressed pride in the Nigerian Army’s role in shaping Gen. Yahaya into a man of integrity and patriotism, and urged the public to disregard baseless claims aimed at tarnishing his image.
The President of the Forum, Dr. Abubakar Boyi Sifawa, Fcasson, who led the team to address newsmen, also stated that the SDF affirms Gen. Yahaya’s exceptional career and integrity, noting that both remain unquestionable.
An angered Dr. Abubakar added that the forum condemns the distorted videos and fabricated reports as malicious propaganda aimed at damaging Gen. Yahaya’s reputation.
He further stated that the SDF stands firmly in solidarity with Gen. Yahaya and supports legal action against individuals circulating misinformation.
The forum therefore called for responsible journalism and cautioned against spreading misinformation capable of damaging national institutions and respected individuals.
