The Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA) has inaugurated a new task force to strengthen environmental compliance and enforcement across the State urge the newly constituted team on professionalism.
This was disclosed in a press release signed by the General Manager of OGEPA, Hon. Kehinde Bello, through the Head of Public Relations, Mr. Luke Adebesin.
The task force, inaugurated by Hon. Bello, was charged with overseeing the enforcement of environmental laws and regulations, forming part of the State government’s broader efforts to address rising environmental challenges and promote sustainable development.
Speaking at the inauguration, Hon. Bello emphasized that the team’s role would be central to monitoring industrial activities and ensuring strict adherence to environmental standards.
He further highlighted the importance of environmental protection in safeguarding public health and supporting economic growth. Bello noted that Ogun State, as an industrial hub, faces significant environmental pressures that require cooperation among government agencies, the private sector and local communities.
“The formation of this task force is a key component of our strategy to ensure compliance with environmental regulations, standards and best practices,” he said.
The task force will also conduct routine inspections and address environmental infractions within industries across the State.
The General Manager charged members of the team to demonstrate professionalism, dedication and integrity in carrying out their responsibilities.
