BUA Cement Plc has awarded scholarships worth N200,000 each to 200 students from Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara States as part of its ongoing commitment to educational development and community support.
The initiative, according to the Managing Director/CEO, Engineer Yusuf Binji—represented by the Plant Director, Engineer Aminu Bashar—seeks to empower students from the company’s host communities, build a skilled future workforce, and contribute to national development. He disclosed that the beneficiaries emerged through a transparent selection process, with 50 students chosen from each of the three states and an additional 50 selected from Wamakko Local Government Area.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Director of Administration and Corporate Affairs, Muhammad Sada Sulaiman, explained that the scholarship scheme, which began in the 2018/2019 academic year, is designed to complement government efforts and support students in achieving their academic aspirations.
The MD urged the beneficiaries to use the funds judiciously and serve as ambassadors of BUA Cement.
Recipients of the scholarship expressed their appreciation, commending the company for its sustained investment in education and corporate social responsibility. They pledged to uphold the values of the programme and make the company proud.
The scholarship forms part of BUA Cement’s broader community development initiatives, which also include healthcare interventions, infrastructure support, and other social investment projects.
