The Kebbi State Local Government Service Commission has presented its Best performance Awards for the year to two Local Government Council Chairmen, two Directors and one of the commission’s Commissioner.

Presenting the awards on Thursday at his office, the Chairman, Local Government Service Commission, Alhaji Shafiu Garba, said the recipients emerged after a rigorous screening and evaluation process conducted across the 21 Local Government Areas of the State.

He explained that the awards were given to the two best performing Local Government Council Chairmen, the best Director of Works, the best Director of finance and best performing Commissioner within the commission.

“We visited all the 21 Local Government Councils and discovered that only two council chairmen met the criteria for the award. These are the Chairmen of Ngaski Local Government and Koko-Besse Local Government. The Director of Works from Ngaski and the Director of Finance from Koko- Besse also qualified,” he stated.

The commission chairman noted that the selection process was based on strict adherence to key performance indicators such us record keeping, punctuality, discipline, due process and overall administrative efficiency.

He added that the only Permanent Commissioner who qualified for recognition was Permanent Commissioner II , stressing the need for others to step up their performance.
“I urge other local government chairmen and staff to rededicate themselves to their responsibilities so that they too can be celebrated in future ” he advised .

The Chairman expressed appreciation to the Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris, for his continuous support to the commission and for fostering an environment that allows it to discharge its duties effectively.

He described the Governor as a visionary leader who has given the people especially Local Government staff a strong sense of belonging and motivation to excel.
