Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, former governors Dr Ifeanyi Okowa and James Ibori were among attendees on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at burial of Late Major-Gen Paul Omu at Igbide in Isoko South LGA in Delta State.

Maj.-Gen. Omu, aged 84, was a former military governor of Cross River State and former President General of the Isoko Development Union (IDU). He is survived by his wife, Senator Stella Omu, and children.

The funeral service held at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Igbide, where the Biblical resurrection hope at John 11:25–26, was reiterated. Officiating clerics, led by the Archbishop of Bendel Province, Most Revd Cyril Odutemu, said the late General lived a life of integrity in service to the nation.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, who was represented by Major-General Oluwafemi Williams said of Omu: “In every appointment he held, he demonstrated unwavering determination in achieving set objectives. He was disciplined, confident and endowed with impeccable integrity”.

The ceremony witnessed full military rites, including 21 gun salute, ceremonial guard, slow march procession, and the symbolic presentation of the national flag to the family.

Other Deltans who attended the ceremony include the Speaker, Delta House of Assembly, Emomotimi Guwor, Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, former Deputy Governor, Chief Benjamin Elue, Rear Admiral Mike Onah, Secretary to the Delta State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu as well as delegation of IDU led by the President, Prof Chris Akpotu.
