Olisa Metuh’s 60th birthday marked with Charity donations, empowerment

Friday, 28 November 2025 ,was marked as a very special day in Nnewi as political leaders, friends and associates, well-wishers and relatives of Chief Metuh stormed the country home of the former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olisa Metuh, as he celebrated his 60th birthday in a rare display of philanthropy, charity donations, and empowerment.

However, the birthday activities commenced on 19th November, 2025, by donating 10 million naira to the Legend Golden Care Foundation for the payment of fines for inmates at different correction centres in Nigeria.

On 27th November, 2025, he paid homage to the traditional ruler of Nnewi; madea  donation of money and relief materials to the old priests’ home, Nnewi; fed inmates at Nnewi Correction Centre, donated a borehole, skill acquisition centre, and relief materials to the correction facility.

Akajiugo donated crutches, wheelchairs, relief materials ,and the sum of 2.5million to those with special needs at the destitute home, St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, DCC Nnewi.

Moreover, on friday 28th November, Metuh also put smiles on the faces of the people as donated the sum of 10 million naira to clear the hospital bills of indebted patients at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital Hospital, Nnewi; donated bags of rice and other food items, distributed economic empowerment items including grinding machines, sewing machines, vulcanizing pumping machines, generator sets and hairdressing equipment worth millions of naira in addition to cash grants to widows, old people above 75 years, petty traders, artisans and skilled persons in Nnewi and its environs.

The 60th birthday celebration commenced with a Thanksgiving Holy Mass by the Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, Most Rev. Jonas Benson Okoye, at Metuh’s compound in Umuanuka Otolo Nnewi.

At Thanksgiving, Chief Metuh expressed gratitude to God for his grace and mercies in the last six decades, adding that his philanthropic activities were part of his age-long decision to always give back to humanity and touch lives in appreciation of God’s blessings in his life. He also announced that he has no interest in any elective positions. Thus, his philanthropy should not be linked to any political interest.

Metuh’s 60th birthday celebration is expected to climax with a church service on Sunday, 30th November, in Abuja.
