The First Lady of Zamfara state, Her Excellency Huriyya Dauda Lawal, has donated N1.4m to each winner of the 2025 29th Qur’anic recitation competition drawn from the 14th Local Government Areas of the state.
She also offered them free tickets for the forthcoming Hajj and Pilgrimage exercise to strengthen their faith in God. She also applauded the organisers, scholars, and participants for upholding a tradition that strengthens Islamic knowledge and moral discipline among young people.

Press Secretary, Office of the First Lady, Zamfara State, confirmed that the ceremony was conducted last weekend at the Multipurpose Hall of JB secretariat in Gusau, the state capital.
The week-long competition brought together male and female contestants from all fourteen local government areas of the state, featuring Qur’an memorisation and commentary competition across multiple categories.
At the event, Hafiz Yusuf Tukur from Maru Local Government Area and Hafiza Hajaru Abdullahi from Tsafe Local Government Area emerged overall winners of the highest category from the Males and females, respectively, which covers the memorisation of sixty hizibs of the Glorious Qur’an and full commentary.
In her remarks, the First Lady congratulated winners across all six categories and encouraged them to demonstrate excellence at the forthcoming national competition scheduled for Borno State in December 2025.
She also commended the Musabaqa Committee for its transparent and well-executed coordination of this year’s edition, noting that such efforts promote discipline, learning, and unity among young Qur’anic scholars.
The Chairman of the Zamfara State Council of Chiefs, His Royal Highness Alhaji Attahiru Muhammad Ahmad, Emir of Anka, alongside the guest speaker, Malam Ibrahim Muhammad Sifawa, praised Governor Dauda Lawal and the Government of Zamfara state, as well as organizers of the programme, for ensuring a successful and credible event.
A key highlight of the ceremony was the turbaning of the two overall winners and the presentation of Hajj seats, awarded by the First Lady as a gesture of encouragement and honour. She further donated one hundred thousand naira to each participant drawn from all fourteen local government areas as additional support for their dedication and commitment.
