Nigeria leads charge in AFCFTA implementation with inaugural P3 Summit

The Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment (FMITI) has convened the inaugural AfCFTA Public-Private-Press (P3) Summit, highlighting Nigeria’s progress in advancing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda through strengthened trade integration.

The summit, themed “AfCFTA Simplified: Seizing Opportunities for Government and Business to Win Together,” brought together key stakeholders to deepen understanding of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and drive coordinated action.

Honourable Minister Dr. Jumoke Oduwole emphasized Nigeria’s economic ambitions are tied to active participation in the $3.4 trillion AfCFTA market, covering 1.4 billion people.

The summit unveiled new Trade Intelligence Tools and the CCC National Action Plan Framework, marking a significant step towards building a coordinated national approach to position Nigeria at the centre of a thriving continental market.

Key highlights of the summit include: Nigeria’s hosting of high-level AfCFTA engagements and inauguration of the CCC; strides in digital trade leadership and national tariff concessions for AfCFTA goods; launch of an air cargo export corridor and publication of a market intelligence tool for exporters
and; Nigeria’s successful bid to host major continental trade events

Stakeholders urged unity and collaboration to build a One African Market that is “Made, Powered, and Led by Nigeria.”
