President Bola Tinubu has declared that no Nigerian should live in fear, stressing that safety is a right his administration intends to defend with stronger security measures.
The President cancelled his scheduled trip to the G20 Summit in South Africa to personally oversee security operations following fresh waves of abductions across the country. Posting on his official X handle on Sunday, Tinubu said his government would confront criminality “without relenting.”
“Every Nigerian, in every state, has the right to safety, and under my watch, we will secure this nation and protect our people,” he wrote.
Tinubu confirmed that all 38 worshippers abducted in Eruku, Kwara State, had been rescued, alongside 51 students earlier taken from a Catholic school in Niger State.
“Thanks to the efforts of our security forces over the last few days, all the 38 worshippers abducted in Eruku, Kwara State have been rescued. I am equally happy that 51 out of the missing students of the Catholic School in Niger State have been recovered,” he said.
The President added that he had been receiving constant briefings from the frontline, monitoring the nationwide security situation “closely and consistently.”
His remarks come amid growing public frustration and demands for faster, more decisive government action as kidnappings and armed attacks continue to spread across different states.
