Obi calls for genuine investment in education as NAPPS honours Nkan’uzu Anaedo with prestigious fellowship

The 2023 Presidential Candidate of Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi has called for genuine investment in education, not merely in speeches, but in budgetary committment, planning and execution.

He disclosed this during the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS)’s International Conference and Exhibition (NCE) held at ICC Umuahia, Abia State on November 20, 2025.

Mr Peter Obi, who was awarded the Beacon of National Role Model at the conference emphasised that” no nation can rise above the quality of education it gives its children”.

“Our continued neglect of education and healthcare remains a major reason for our economic and social decline” he noted.

He commended private school proprietors for their resilience, adding that they have carried the responsibilities the government ought to have carried.

Mr Peter Obi said he was honoured to receive the NAPPS National Role Model Award,presented as encouragement to millions of students across the country.

“I reflected on my time as Governor, when we supported both public and private schools with buses, computers, generators and essential learning tools” he stressed.

On this note, Hon. Caleb Festus Okeke-Enyobi (Nkan’uzu Anaedo), a dynamic Civic leader, Media personality, education administrator and culture advocate was conferred with the honour of Fellowship of NAPPS (FNAPPS) for his outstanding service, educational leadership, cultural stewardship and unwavering committment to the progress of learners, teachers, and the private education sector.

According to Chief Yomi Otubela, the National President of NAPPS, Nigeria, Hon. Caleb Festus Okeke-Enyobi, the current Special Adviser to the Executive Chairman of Nnewi North Local Government Area, Mayor Echezona Anazodo on Education and Innovation was officially admitted into the esteemed College of Fellows of NAPPS.

In appreciation, Hon. Caleb Festus Okeke expressed his delight for the honour, promised to do more to propel the association to its forefront.
