In his efforts to fulfil campaign promises tagged Smart 9Points Agenda,the Sokoto state governor,Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto has undertaken construction the Rijiya Dorawa, Ahmadu Bello Way, Sama Road, and Sokoto Guest Inn roundabouts have been revamped to improve traffic flow and aesthetics.
Multi-directional spillways are being added to ease congestion at Gidan Man Ada, FGC, and Sokoto Guest Inn roundabouts.
Solar-powered street lights are being installed across 39 township roads, including Tudun Wada and Ungwan Rogo areas.
Over ₦1.7 billion has been allocated for this project, enhancing security and enabling night-time activities.
Landscaping and art installations are transforming areas like Gawon Nama, Sahara, and Maiduguri road.
Forces Avenue, Lodge roads, Old Market, and Mairuwa roundabout are also being beautified
These projects are part of Governor Aliyu’s 9-Point Smart Agenda, aiming to transform Sokoto into a modern, vibrant city. However, some opposition parties have raised concerns about the cost and transparency of these projects ⁵.

Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s administration has prioritized mosque maintenance, allocating N300,000-N500,000 monthly for 90 Jumuat mosques in Sokoto metropolis, with 87 mosques across the state receiving N95.4m for upkeep.
The Chairman Sokoto Council of NUJ Usman Muhammad Binji in his remarks advised journalists to criticise the government in a meaningful way and similarly advised journalists to be fair and just in their reportage.
He then thanked the state government for according NUJ to explore performances of the state in Sokoto metropolis and rural areas.
