The Oluwo of Ijemo Land and Aro of Egbaland, Chief Oluyinka Kufile, announced the peaceful resolution of the long-standing boundary misunderstanding between Ijemo and Ibara communities in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Speaking during the 2025 Ibara Day Celebration on Saturday, Chief Kufile revealed that both communities have now reached a clear understanding of their respective boundaries, putting an end to years of tension.

He explained that the venue used for the celebration is a neutral, open environment belonging to a school, making it accessible to both communities. According to him, “We have had a relationship with the Olubara and everyone in Ibara since the 19th century, but some people tried to create division between us. I believe that has now been put to rest.”

Chief Kufile extended goodwill to the Olubara of Ibara, His Royal Majesty Oba Jacob Olufemi Omolade, congratulating him and the people of Ibara on the celebration. He described the Olubara as a respected elder and leader, emphasizing the long-standing friendship between the two communities.

In his remarks, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, congratulated the people of Ibara, praying for long life and good health for the Olubara. He fondly recalled that the Olubara’s father was his teacher at Baptist Boys High School, noting the deep personal ties between their families.

The Olubara of Ibara, HRM Oba Jacob Olufemi Omolade, expressed gratitude to the people of Ibara for their support and urged collective efforts toward completing the rehabilitation of the Ibara Palace. “We need the assistance of our people to build a befitting palace that truly represents our heritage,” he said.

Dignitaries at the event included representatives of Senator Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), Senator Gbenga Daniel, the Chairman of TRACE, Barr. Habeeb Ajayi, the Special Assistant to the Governor, Prince Ifekayode Akinbode, and the Chairman of Abeokuta South Local Government, Hon. Balogun Olaniyi Afees, among others.
