The Governor of Zamfara state, Dr. Dauda Lawal, has approved the construction of a brand new Council secretariat for the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, in Zamfara.
This was contained in a statement issued by Comrade Ibrahim Ahmed Gada, the state council secretary, signed by the NUJ council Chairman Ibrahim Musa Maizare.
According to the statement, the Secretary said, the Zamfara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) is delighted to announce that His Excellency, Governor Dauda Lawal, has approved the construction of a brand-new NUJ Secretariat for journalists in Zamfara State.
This development fulfills a commitment the Governor made to the union before he assumed office, where he assured that his administration would provide a modern and befitting edifice for working journalists in the state. The Council is pleased to confirm that all arrangements for the commencement of the project have been finalized.
The NUJ Zamfara Council sincerely appreciates Governor Dauda Lawal for honoring his promise and for awarding the contract to a reputable indigenous contractor and elder statesman, Alhaji Garba Almajir. Speaking at the project site, Alhaji Almajir assured that he would deliver a state-of-the-art structure that meets the highest standards, in line with the Governor’s vision of making the new NUJ Secretariat one of the best in Africa.
The entire NUJ family in Zamfara State expresses profound gratitude to His Excellency for this historic and commendable gesture, which will not only enhance the working environment for journalists but also strengthen media professionalism and press freedom in the state.
