The Sokoto State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man, Sufiyanu Aliyu, for allegedly killing his 15-year-old wife, Suwaiba Abubakar Bawa, in Gwanyal Village, Tangaza Local Government Area of the state.
According to reports, the tragic incident occurred on October 27, 2025, following a domestic altercation that escalated into violence. During the quarrel, Aliyu allegedly attacked his wife with a knife, inflicting fatal injuries that led to her death.
Confirming the incident, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Rufai, anipr, said the police received a distress report and immediately dispatched operatives to the scene. “The suspect was apprehended at the scene, and the area was cordoned off for forensic analysis,” Rufai stated.
He added that the suspect is currently in police custody as investigations continue. The command has also urged members of the public with any useful information about the case to report to the nearest police station or contact the designated hotlines.
