The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State has been thrown into mourning following the death of its Spokesperson, Chief Route Commander (CRC) Florence N. Okpe.

Okpe, who had reportedly been ill for some time, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, while on her annual leave at her hometown in Cross River State.

Confirming her death, the Ogun State Sector Commander, Corps Commander Akinwumi O. Fasakin, described the late officer as a hardworking, resourceful, and deeply committed staff member who served the Corps with passion and professionalism.

“The command received with heavy heart the sad news of the demise of CRC F.N. Okpe from one of her family members,” Fasakin said. “She reportedly died in her hometown while still on annual leave. Until this unfortunate incident, she was the Ogun Sector Command Public Education Officer a hardworking, resourceful and dedicated officer.”

He added that details surrounding the cause of her death remain sketchy, assuring that further information would be made available in due course.

The late Okpe, who was well known for her dedication to public enlightenment and road safety advocacy, served diligently as the Public Education Officer of the Ogun Sector Command until her passing.

Her death has left a vacuum within the FRSC family and among media practitioners who regularly engaged her in her role as the command’s spokesperson.
