The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has successfully energized two new power transformers — a 150MVA transformer at the Agbara Transmission Substation in Ogun State and a 110MVA transformer at the Ajah Transmission Substation in Lagos State — as part of ongoing efforts to boost power supply and strengthen the national grid.
In a statement signed by its General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, the company said the newly energized transformers fall under the Lagos Region and were executed through the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)-funded Service Level Agreement (SLA) initiative aimed at improving bulk power transmission capacity nationwide.

According to the statement, the 150MVA transformer at Agbara has increased the substation’s capacity from 150MVA to 275MVA, significantly enhancing bulk power delivery to the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (Eko DisCo). This upgrade will enable improved electricity supply to Agbara, OPIC, Badagry, Ishasi, Ajara, and neighbouring communities.
Similarly, the 110MVA transformer energized at the Ajah Transmission Substation has added 59MW to the substation’s existing 224MW wheeling capacity, thereby improving power supply to Jakande, Ajah, Agungi, Chevron, and other surrounding areas.

The company noted that these developments demonstrate its commitment to expanding and upgrading its transmission infrastructure to ensure more reliable and efficient power delivery across the country.

“TCN remains committed to the continued expansion and upgrade of its transmission network for a more efficient bulk power delivery nationwide,” the statement added.
