Zamfara state Police command under the leadership of Commissioner Ibrahim Balarebe Maikaba has confirmed the killing of its five gallant officers who were ambushed by bandits while on duty along Gusau-Funtua Federal Highway.
The confirmation was made known to the public via a statement Signed by the Spokesperson of Command Dsp Yazeed Abubakar and Issued to the Journalists in Gusau the State Capital.
Yazeed Abubakar narrated that, at about 1300hrs Thursday, officers attached to the Operations Department of the Police Command, led by ASP John Dogara, were on routine patrol along Gusau–Funtua Federal Highway. Before reaching Gidan Giye village in Tsafe Local Government Area, the patrol team was ambushed by a large number of armed bandits.
“The officers bravely engaged the assailants in a fierce gun duel. During the exchange, several of the bandits were neutralized, while others fled the scene with suspected gunshot wounds” he said.
Yazeed noted that, five gallant police officers paid the supreme price in the line of duty.
“However, normalcy has been restored to the area, and further reinforcement has been deployed to maintain peace and ensure the safety of commuters along the highway”
Yazeed Explained that, the Commissioner of Police, CP IB Maikaba psc+ commends the courage and dedication of the fallen heroes and assures the public of the Command’s unwavering commitment to combating criminal elements in the state.
