The ancient town of Iperu-Remo in Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State came alive on Wednesday as political and business leaders from across Nigeria gathered to celebrate Chief (Mrs.) Victoria Abiodun, mother of Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, on her 90th birthday.

The thanksgiving service, held at St. James’ Anglican Church, Iperu-Remo, drew a remarkable list of dignitaries, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, and former Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole.

Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Ademola Adeleke (Osun), Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (Kwara), and Hope Uzodimma (Imo) were also present, alongside traditional rulers led by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, described the celebrant as “a pathfinder and teacher whose life of service shaped generations that have continued to build the nation.” He noted that Chief (Mrs.) Abiodun’s enduring faith, humility, and impact in education remain a shining example for Nigerian women.

In his tribute, Governor Dapo Abiodun eulogized his mother as “an embodiment of grace, strength, and godliness,” saying her commitment to family and community laid the foundation for his success and that of his siblings. He thanked God for granting her long life in good health, describing her as “a pillar who stood firmly beside our late father and continues to inspire us.”

Delivering the sermon, the Bishop of Remo Anglican Diocese, Most Rev. Olusina Fape, urged the nonagenarian to continue dedicating her life to God, saying her story mirrors that of Mary, mother of Jesus, for giving birth to a son who now serves as a beacon of leadership in Ogun State.

The cleric lauded Governor Abiodun’s administration for its developmental strides, particularly the Gateway International Airport at Iperu-Remo, describing it as “a blessing that has transformed the region.”

With music, prayers, and tributes from all walks of life, the celebration of Chief (Mrs.) Victoria Abiodun’s 90th birthday became more than just a milestone it was a testament to a life that continues to inspire both family and state.
