ASUU-NDU join strike action as students desert lecture halls

By: Odieh Ramon, Yenagoa.

Lecturers in the Bayelsa State owned Niger Delta Universities, Ammassoma have joined in the nationwide strike action called by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

A drive by our correspondent through some parts of the Institutions showed total compliance with lecture halls deserted and few students seen around the campus.

A visit to the Faculty of Law showed that students have stayed away from lecture theatre due to the ongoing strike.

Attempt to speak with some lecturers failed as they claimed it is against the agreed procedure in the leadership of ASUU,” we have agreed that it is only the National President of ASUU that is mandates to grant press interviews.”

” But as you can see, we are fully complying to the call for strike action.”
