Abuja abuzz, as Anambra indigenes rekindles culture in Moshood Abiola Stadium

The Moshood Abiola International Stadium in Abuja was abuzz with excitement on Saturday as the Anambra State Town’s People Association (ASTPA) organized the 2025 Anambra Day Celebration. The event, themed “Onulu Ube Nwanne Agbanaoso” (Don’t hesitate to assist your brother/sister in need), drew a massive turnout of people from far and wide, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Anambra State, reports Abbanobi -Eku Onyeka.

The celebration featured a vibrant display of cultural dances, masquerades, music, and traditional attire, highlighting the state’s rich cultural diversity. The event was attended by prominent individuals, including Sen. Ben Obi (Ojeligbo), Chairman of the 2025 Anambra Day Celebration; Chief Simon Okeke (Ochendo), former Chairman, Police Service Commission, as the Father of the Day and Chief (Mrs.) Chris Uba, Mother of the Day.

In his address, Sen. Ben Obi emphasized the importance of unity and togetherness among the people of Anambra State. He urged the attendees to embody the spirit of “Onulu Ube Nwanne Agbanaoso” and to promote peace, love, and unity. The event also highlighted the potential of cultural tourism to promote economic growth and development.

Chief Basil Okafor, the Ichie Dusogu III in Awkuzu, advised the youths to keep records straight and make the state proud. He also appealed to the legislators to back culture promotion with law and budget, which would go a long way in promoting culture and the economy.

The President General of ASTPA, Sir Arinze Anadu, appealed to the government to provide subvention to organized Anambra State Associations in diaspora like ASTPA. He expressed gratitude to the Executive Governor of Anambra State for providing security and promoting development in the state.

The 2025 Anambra Day Celebration was a resounding success, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Anambra State and promoting unity and peace among its people. The event served as a platform for the state’s indigenes to reconnect with their roots and celebrate their shared identity.
