The Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable Jibril Ismail Falgore, has extended his heartfelt felicitations to Nigerians on the occasion of the nation’s 65th Independence Anniversary.
This message was conveyed in a statement issued by Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai, Spokesperson to the Rt. Honourable Speaker, on Wednesday.
Falgore noted that Nigeria’s journey since independence has been met with mixed reactions, but with vision and strategic planning, a brighter future lies ahead.
He stated that the day serves as a reminder of the courage and foresight of Nigeria’s founding fathers, who laid the foundation for a united, sovereign, and democratic nation.
Sixty-five years on, despite challenges, Nigeria remains a country of over 230 million people, mostly young, energetic, and forward-looking. This, he said, is a unique asset that many nations do not possess.
Falgore emphasized that it is time to move beyond lamentations of missed opportunities. With abundant human and material resources, much can still be done to salvage the situation and reposition the country for greatness.
He further stressed: “As a people, we must realize that we owe future generations, and indeed Nigeria, a duty to redeem our dignity by killing corruption and harnessing our resources for development.
Here in Kano State, the House of Assembly remains resolute in its legislative and oversight responsibilities, with zero tolerance for corruption and a commitment to improving the lives of our people.”
On behalf of the Kano State House of Assembly, the Speaker extended warm felicitations to His Excellency, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, the people of Kano State, and all Nigerians on this historic occasion.
“May this anniversary inspire us all to rise above divisions and work together for a prosperous nation where justice, equity, and development prevail, Happy 65th Independence Anniversary, Nigeria.”
