FCT Minister flags off construction of transit Way N2

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Minister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has officially flagged off the construction of the Transit Way N2, a vital road project designed to connect the Central Business District to the Wuse District in Abuja, according to a to a press release from Rabi Musa Umar the Assistant Director Press Office of the Minister on Sunday, the project, which includes the provision of two essential bridges, aims to enhance traffic flow, reduce congestion, and boost economic activities in the area.
The Transit Way N2 project is part of the FCT Administration’s efforts to improve infrastructure and transportation in the city. The project will not only reduce travel time but also improve economic activities within the vicinity and further enhance infrastructural growth in the city. According to the Executive Secretary, Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Engr. Richard Yunana Dauda, the project will address chronic flooding issues and enhance general traffic flow, serving as a catalyst for economic activities.
Barrister Wike in a remark, disclosed that the project was initiated after he observed efforts by private citizens to make the road motorable. He commended these individuals, referring to them as “elder statesmen,” for taking the bold step to start the construction. “During one of our inspection tours, I drove from where you have the TY Danjuma Foundation. I want to commend our elder statesmen for taking the bold step to start the construction from that side,” he said. The Minister directed the FCDA to take over and fully complete the project, emphasizing that good road networks are essential for urban development and attracting investment.
The project is expected to have a significant impact on residents, providing job opportunities during the construction phase and improving access to key services, including schools, hospitals, and markets. Residents of Abuja have expressed gratitude for the Minister’s efforts to improve infrastructure in the city, citing the positive impact on their businesses and daily lives.
Education and Healthcare Initiatives
Beyond road infrastructure, the FCT Minister disclosed that the FCT Administration is intensifying efforts in other critical sectors, including health and education. He announced a new phase for educational development, pledging the total rehabilitation of not less than 40 schools, in addition to the over 70 ongoing school projects, 45 of which have already been completed.
In conclusion, the FCT Minister assured residents that the FCT Administration remains focused on service delivery despite any distractions. He also confirmed that the flag-off and commissioning of vital projects will continue through October and into November to grow the economy and improve the landscape of the FCT. The project is expected to be completed within the stipulated timeframe, with the contractor, Levante Construction Company Nigeria Limited, assuring that the project will be delivered in accordance with the highest standard.
