Youth leaders launch central committee to champion Nigeria’s Diverse Ethnic Voices ahead of 2027 elections

The newly inaugurated Central Working Committee (CWC) of the 2025 All Nigerian Ethnic Nationalities Youth Conference officially unveiled its agenda on Friday at a press briefing in Abuja.
The committee, led by Comrade Matthew Dighi, aims to unite over 250 youth representatives from Nigeria’s diverse ethnic groups to engage in transformational dialogue and advocate for national unity and progress.
In a solemn moment, youth leaders observed a minute of silence to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Ken Saro-Wiwa’s execution, honoring the late environmental activist and human rights defender who was unjustly killed in 1995 under the military regime. The gathering reaffirmed its commitment to uphold Saro-Wiwa’s legacy by demanding justice and stronger environmental protection across Nigeria.
The upcoming 2025 All Nigerian Ethnic Nationalities Youth Forum Conference, scheduled for November 7, will focus on assessing government efforts to address environmental degradation and human rights violations—issues that Saro-Wiwa passionately fought against.
Under the leadership of Alhaji Yerima Shettima, the forum plans to hold successive Nigerian administrations accountable for the progress made in these critical areas.
The conference will also welcome President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the Distinguished Guest of Honour and feature prominent national and international activists, including speakers from Kenya, to inspire and educate Nigeria’s youth on social justice and activism.
A highlight of the event will be the Heroes Awards, which will honour exceptional leaders shaping Nigeria’s future.
