A leading Nigerian Print Media outfit, Blueprint Newspaper has honoured the Governor of Kebbi State, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris ( Kauran Gwandu) with the prestigious 2025 Governor of the Year Award for his giant strides in infrastructural development and youth empowerment.
Presenting the award to the governor in Abuja on Friday, the Chairman of the company, who is also the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris-Malagi said the award was conferred on the governor based on merit.
The minister, represented by the Managing Director of Blueprint Newspaper, Alhaji Salisu Umar said: “The newspaper, after careful investigation, analysis and scrutiny has identified Gov. Nasir Idris of Kebbi as the best governor of the year in Infrastructure and Youth Empowerment.
“We decided to confer this award on you based on the record available to us, which shows that you have excelled among your counterparts, especially in the areas of infrastructure and youth empowerment in addition to other sectors.”
While encouraging the Governor to do more for his people, Idris-Malagi prayed that before the end of Gov. Idris’ eight years tenure, Kebbi would be competing with Abuja in terms of infrastructure.
Receiving the award, Dr Idris, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Umar Abubakar-Tafida, appreciated the management of Blueprint Newspaper for finding him worthy of the award.
He described the honor as a morale booster that would spur him to commit himself more to service to humanity.
The Governor revealed that his administration had done a lot in all sectors, particularly in infrastructure, youth and women empowerment, agriculture, education, health, as well as rural and economic development.
Idris recalled that since the present administration came onboard, it had been supplying fertilizers to farmers free annually and promised to sustain the tempo up to the last day of the tenure.
He added that before the advent of the present administration, the state capital used to be akin to a glorified Local Government Headquarters, adding that: “today, the city is wearing a completely new look.”
Those on the entourage of the Deputy Governor were some members of the kebbi state Executive council, members of state assembly, special Advisers, ACG Sambo Gwandu (rtd) Alhaji Isiyaku Abdullahi, the Sansanin Zuru and the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Alhaji Ahned Idris among others.
