Whole School Mass Cheating: 38 schools involves from 13 states in NECO 2025 SSCE internal exams

A total of, 38 schools were caught in examination malpractices 13 states of the federation during the just concluded National Examination Council (NECO) 2025 Senior school certificate examination, it have uncovered.

In the same vein, the examination body have summoned the affected individuals and states for discussion for appropriate sanctions to be metted out to them.

The Registrar And Chief Executive of NECO, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi made this disclosure at the council headquarters in Minna on Wednesday

Professor Wushishi said that despite the facts that the results were released within 54 days after the last written paper, efforts was made to reach out to all Universities and other higher institutions to ensure that they wait until the results from all examination bodies are released before releasing their admissions.

“So as not to exclude a very large number of candidates from gaining admissions into their institutions of choice”.

“We therefore called on all regulating bodies, such as JAMB to ensure that all institutions comply with their directives”.

However, nine Supervisors, three from Rivers, Niger one, FCT three as well as one each from Kano, Osun states were also recommended for blacklisting due to poor supervision, aiding and abetting, lateness, unruly behavior, assault and insubordination.

In Lamorde local governments of Adamawa state eight school with a total number of 559 student ts could not complete their examinations as a result of communal clash.

The disruption affected a total of thirteen subjects and 29 papers were involved, the Registrar further, however added that the exam body have commenced talks with the state government with a view to conduct the examination for the affected schools.

Professor Wushishi made it clear that the results of the eight affected schools can not be released for now.

Highlights of the results showed that a total of 1,367,210 candidates registered for the examination representing 685,514 males and 681,696 females.

A total of 1,358,339 representing 680,292 males and 678,047 female, while 818,492 representing 60.26 percent passed with five credits and above in English and mathematics.

The results also showed that 1,144,496 candidates scored five credits and above, irrespective of mathematics and English representing 84.26 percent.

The NECO boss,advised candidates who sat for the 2025 SSCE internal examination to access their results on it website: www.neco.gov.ng, using their examination registration numbers.

Professor Wushishi hinted that this may be the last result he will release as his first four years tenure will come to an end by June 2026.
