Zamfara records 95% success at 2025 common entrance examination

Zamfara State has recorded an impressive 95 percent success rate at the just concluded 2025 National Common Entrance Examination as 540 out of 567 pupils secured admission on national merit, reflecting a major boost in the state’s educational performance.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by Comrade Ibrahim Musa Maizare, public relations officer of Zamfara state Universal Basic Education Board ZSUBEB to journalists in Gusau the state capital.

It was revealed that, the assessment report was presented by Arc. A. A. Gusau, Chairman of the His Royal Highness Kabir Dan Baba skill acquisition Training Center, to the Executive Chairman of the Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board (ZSUBEB), Professor Nasir Garba Anka, Makaman Sokoto South.

According to the report, 93 pupils gained admission into Federal Government College (FGC) Sokoto, while 188 pupils were admitted into FGC Anka. The report also announced plans to establish 30 new examination centers ahead of the next academic year, with provision for learning materials to aid preparation.

Three outstanding pupils—Hauwau Isah Ahmad, Abdulwahid M. Nasir, and Maryam Muhd—were awarded full scholarships up to university level under the NNPC/SHELL Scholarship Programme. Similarly, two pupils, Najibu Nazifi and Balkisu Lawal, gained admission into the Gifted Programme in Jigawa State, while Maryam Aminu was sponsored by Alhaji Sambo Garba Sardaunan Gusau for further studies.

In addition, seven pupils—three from Gusau and four from Tsafe have been shortlisted to sit for the NNPC/SHELL Scholarship Examination in the coming weeks.

Speaking after receiving the report, Professor Nasir Garba Anka expressed delight at the achievement:

“Our success reflects the improved learning outcomes in Zamfara. I congratulate all the pupils, their parents, and teachers. I also commend the Honourable Commissioner for Education, and all those who have contributed to the success of education in our state,” he said.

On behalf of the beneficiaries, Hauwau Isah Ahmad thanked His Excellency the Executive Governor of Zamfara state Dr. Dauda Lawal, the Honourable Commissioner of Education, Alhaji Sambo Garba Sardaunan Gusau, and the Executive Chairman of ZSUBEB for their continuous support toward pupils’ education.
