NIS plans to establish secondary school in Zamfara

In a groundbreaking move to strengthen education and youth development, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced plans to establish the country’s first Immigration Basic and Secondary School in Zamfara State, in collaboration with the State Universal Basic Education Board (ZSUBEB).
This was contained in a statement by Ibrahim Musa Maizare the Public Relations Officer for Zamfara state Universal Basic Education
The Comptroller of Immigration, Zamfara State Command, Ms. Aliyu, disclosed this when she led a management team on a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of ZSUBEB, Professor Nasir Garba Anka, Makaman Sokoto South.
Ms. Aliyu explained that immigration services extend beyond passport issuance, stressing the Service’s vision to contribute to the educational advancement of Nigerian children. He revealed that academic activities are expected to commence in 2025 on a temporary site, with plans to introduce training and co curricular activities aimed at nurturing discipline, patriotism, and leadership among young people.
Responding, Professor Anka described the initiative as historic and congratulated the Comptroller for his innovation and foresight, which he said has placed Zamfara on the national map as the pioneer host of the project. He assured the Immigration Service of SUBEB’s full support, noting that the initiative aligns with Governor Dauda Lawal’s declaration of a state of emergency in the education sector.
The meeting, attended by management staff of both institutions, explored frameworks for collaboration and mutual support to ensure the successful takeoff of the school and to strengthen the future of education in Zamfara State and beyond.
