Uruagu Nnewi celebrates Afia-Olu festival in grand style

The Uruagu Community in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State has showcased the most colorful cultural heritage in Nnewi.
While celebrating the 2025 Afia-Olu festival in Uruagu Nnewi on Thursday, August 28 2025 at the Obi Uruagu Hall, many dignitaries from far and near graced the occasion.
Among the dignitaries were: Chief Cletus Ibeto, the CEO Ibeto Group, the Labour Party governorship candidate, Chief George Moghalu, Chiefs, politicians and stakeholders.
In a kola nut ritual, His Royal Highness Obi Afam Obi (Ogidi IV), the Obi of Uruagu prayed and blessed the people of Uruagu both in home and in diaspora.
He declared the occasion open, which witnessed colorful cultural displays,like cultural dance, music and masquerades of all types graced the stage.
There was also giveaways like cartons of Tummy Tummy noodles, tubers of yam,and chickens
The President General of Uruagu Community, Hon. Innocent Okoli in his remarks described Afia-Olu festival as a period of thanksgiving and celebration, acknowledging the contributions of the people of Uruagu Nnewi both home and in diaspora to make this year’s festival a remarkable one.
He noted that the colorful event was a testament that the people of Uruagu community are doing well.
He prayed for God’s blessings and protection upon the people of Uruagu,adding that they all would be alive to witness another celebration.
