Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu Campaign Organization has condemned the physical and verbal assault of NYSC members by operatives of the Udo Ga Achi in Oba in Idemili South LGA of Anambra State.
In a press statement signed by Dr Kingsley Ezekwelu, Chief of Staff to Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, the APC Governorship flag bearer.
The statement reads, “We at Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu Ikukuoma Wind of Glory Campaign Organization wish to join men and women of goodwill to condemn the physical and verbal assault of NYSC members by operatives of the Udo Ga Achi.
“The viral trending video indicated that the heavily armed operatives not only beat them up, inflicted multiple injuries on them under gunpoint, they also naked one particular female Corp member with the threat to rape.
“Subjecting the NYSC members most of who are coming into Anambra State and South East for first time in their lives to such gross abuse is not only unfortunate but condemnable.
“On August 16th during the Anambra South Senatorial Bye-election, media practitioners who were in Osumenyi in Nnewi South LGA to monitor the election were arrested by the same blood hungry Agunechemba security operatives.
“It took the intervention of Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) to secure their release, we had it on good note that some of eighteen journalists arrested were beaten up, molested and also threatened.
“The two incidents are not isolated cases of intimidation, harassment and outright lawlessness Agunechemba and Udogachi operatives have personified since creation.
“We had it on good note that the bloody reckless security operatives operate an underground cells where suspects are kept, one begins to wonder why anomalies would be legalized by Prof Charles Soludo in his pretense of fighting insecurity when in actual sense, he deliberately set up Agunechemba and Udogachi security operatives to further his political strangle hold of Ndi-Anambra.
“The normal standard practice worldwide is that if a non conventional security outfit arrests a suspect, such should be handed over to Police Authorities for detention, investigation and possible prosecution.
“In Prof Charles Soludo’s Anambra, security system just like all other systems of governance have been thrown upside down under his watch. Anambra is bleeding on daily basis, if Ndi Aka-Odo are not rampage in Obosi, Onitsha and other areas, Agunechemba will be wrecking havoc in Mgbakwu, Okpuno-Awka as well as almost every part of the State.
“We at the Wind of Glory are not in any way supporting any form of criminality but we must state with all sense of responsibility that the fight against crime and criminals should be done with maturity and human face.
“It is an abberation to assume that a suspect is guilty even before being found guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction. That is the standard security practice all over the world, Anambra State cannot be an exception.
“The condemnation originating from Law Mefor (PhD) on behalf of Anambra State Government and Mrs Nonye Soludo’s planned hosting of the assaulted NYSC member are nothing but crocodile tears and playing the oastrich.
“We appreciate men of goodwill, the courageous religious leaders and other organizations who rose in unison to condemn the atrocious activities of Prof Charles Soludo’s private Army. Certainly, a new dawn must break for Anambra our dearly beloved State !”
