TCN boosts power supply with 60MVA transformer in Bauchi

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced the successful energization of a 60MVA transformer at the Bauchi 132/33kV Transmission Substation under the Jos Sub-Region.
The transformer, commissioned on August 7, 2025, increases the substation’s capacity by 48MW, bringing the total installed capacity to 144MW. This expansion is expected to enhance bulk power transmission to the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC) for onward distribution to customers in Bauchi and neighbouring areas.
According to TCN, the installation forms part of the company’s ongoing projects funded by the World Bank in collaboration with the transmission company to strengthen Nigeria’s power infrastructure.
