The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council, has congratulated Comrade James Sowole on his appointment and inauguration as a National Ex-Officio and constitutional member of the Central Working Committee (CWC) of the union.

Sowole’s appointment was formalized during the National Executive Council meeting held in Kano State.

In a statement jointly signed by Comrade Wale Olanrewaju, Chairman, and Comrade Bunmi Adigun, Secretary of the Ogun State Council, the union described Sowole as “a distinguished journalist with ThisDay newspaper and a dedicated unionist” who has previously served as both Chairman and Secretary of the Ondo State Council of NUJ.

The statement noted that Sowole’s commitment to the profession and the union has earned him respect within Ogun State Council and across the country.

The Ogun NUJ also congratulated Mr. Seye Ojo from Zone B on his inauguration as a trustee of the union, a development they say further strengthens the zone’s representation at the national level.

“The Council regards Mr. Sowole’s appointment as a testament to his competence, professionalism, and unwavering dedication to union service. We are confident he will leverage his extensive experience to champion the interests of all members nationwide,” the statement read.

The Ogun NUJ commended the national leadership of the union for appointing individuals with proven records of excellence, expressing optimism that their inclusion would enhance the union’s ability to address the challenges confronting the media industry.

The Council pledged its full support to the newly inaugurated officers and urged them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and dedication in their roles.
