The Kano State House of Assembly has received official correspondence from the Executive Governor of Kano State, His Excellency Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf.

The letters were formally presented during plenary by the Rt. Honourable Speaker, Jibril Ismail Falgore.

In a statement released by the Speaker’s spokesperson, Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai, on Monday, one of the key requests included the nomination of Saidu Yahaya for confirmation as Chairman of the Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission.

According to the Governor, the nomination was based on Yahaya’s merit, integrity, and proven track record of service and competence. Additionally, in a separate letter, the Governor requested the House’s approval of the 2025 Proposed Supplementary Amendment Bill.

The request was made in light of the ongoing infrastructural transformation across the state, particularly within metropolitan areas, which has led to the initiation of urban renewal projects.

The bill also addresses the creation of newly established Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) aimed at accelerating development priorities.

It may be recalled that following the disclosure of the 2024 audited accounts, an excess of N81,000,000,000 was identified, in addition to the N29,000,000,000 earlier captured as the opening balance in the 2025 approved budget.

The proposed supplementary amendment is expected to be funded by a total of N169,522,463,294.81.

The proposal is currently receiving the House’s utmost attention, and the Rt. Honourable Speaker has referred the request to the appropriate committee for review and subsequent approval.
