Aviation Unions call off Nationwide strike

By: Goodluck E. Adubazi, Abuja.
The aviation unions in Nigeria have announced the suspension of their planned nationwide strike, which was set to begin on Sunday, August 10, 2025.
The unions, comprising the National Union of Air Transport Employees and other aviation workers’ unions, issued a joint statement deferring the strike action.
They cited positive developments following interventions by the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, and other senior officials.
In a statement posted on his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle, Keyamo confirmed the suspension of the strike, attributing it to his intervention and long-standing relationship with labour unions.
The minister promised to continue working with union leaders to find lasting solutions to issues that have lingered in the sector long before he assumed office, expressing confidence that with absolute good faith, the matters would be resolved one by one.
