The Chairman of Ado North Local Council Development Area Hon Olatokunbo Gbadamosi has appealed to inmates of Ado Ekiti correctional center to develop their talents and showcase their sporting skills to the world, despite their current situation.
Hon. Gbadamosi made this remarks while presenting trophy to the winner of a football tournament organized among inmates at the in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.
The entertaining tournament was organized by the Correctional officials with a view to motivate the inmates and rediscovered their God giving talent.
The Ado North Council Boss urged the inmates not to be reluctant to add value to themselves by remaining focused and bringing out their sporting skills.
According to Hon. Gbadamosi, no knowledge is a waste as new knowledge and sporting skills acquired in the correctional centre would be useful to them after their jail term to be reformed citizens in the society
She charged Nigerians especially the well to do people to continue to give needed support to the correctional center for them to perform optimally.
The Assistant Controller of Correctional Service, Ekiti State Command, Mr. Adebayo Amele said that the tournament was organized to open the inmates to sporting activities.
He advised the public not to abandon the inmates as their support would go along way in sharpening the life of the inmates
Mr Amele appealed to the government at all levels to engage sporting trainers to train inmates on sporting skills so that they could be useful to themselves after serving their jail term.
Present at the event was the Technical Advisor to Ekiti State Governor on Sports Dr Olusola Osetoba among others
At the end of the football Match, the General team defeated the Incharge team 5-3 on penalty.
