In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, extended his warm wishes to Jamaica’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Her Excellency Kamina Johnson Smith.

Ambassador Tuggar lauded the enduring ties between Nigeria and Jamaica, describing both nations as bound by deep historical and cultural connections rooted in a shared heritage and a commitment to the progress of the African diaspora.

He noted that the bilateral relationship between the two countries continues to thrive on mutual respect, friendship, and cooperation in various areas of common interest.

“As Jamaica marks this significant milestone, Nigeria celebrates with the Caribbean nation and commends its remarkable progress in governance, culture, education, sports, and sustainable development,” the statement read in part.

The Foreign Affairs Minister reiterated Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with Jamaica, especially in the areas of trade, education, tourism, sports, and cultural exchange, for the collective benefit of both nations.

He further expressed optimism for continued collaboration between Nigeria and Jamaica at regional and global platforms such as the United Nations and the Commonwealth, in pursuit of shared goals of peace, prosperity, and sustainable development.
