The Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, has donated the sum of N20 million to Kauran Gwandu Football Club for consistency in winning the Birnin Kebbi Youths Soccer League back-to-back 2023/24 and 2024/25 seasons.
The governor announced this while receiving the trophies presented to him by the Team Manager, Abubakar Sadiq Bullet at Government House, Birnin Kebbi on Sunday.
Gov. Idris commended both the management and the players for the feat.
“I am proud of the team, the club was established since before my entry into politics and becoming governor.
“Since then, I’ve been sponsoring the club, this is my private team not for the government.
“You have performed creditably, continue on this path and progress to higher competitions,” the governor said.
According to him, sporting activities and games are enhancers of physical and mental ability of sportsmen and women, youths development as well as economic outlet for a living.
“I will continue to give the club necessary moral and material support to excel.
“Competitions entail winning or losing, but even in the event of defeat, make sure your opponent will sing your praises as being professionally hard to defeat.
“I am donating N20 million to the club for the players and management as source of motivation for greater successes,” he noted.
Presenting the trophies to the governor, the Club, led by the Team Manager, Abubakar Sadiq Bullet informed their proprietor that the team won double league for two consecutive years, and has qualified for the final match for the ‘Dutsinmari Cup Competition’.
“Your Excellency, all the players and other stakeholders are beneficiaries of the financial and material assistance you’ve been rendering to the team”.
“We are here to present the trophies won by the club to you and to express our sincere appreciation for the everlasting fatherly support given to us to triumph in series of football engagement”, Sadiq said.
The Captain of the team presented the trophies to the Governor and decorated him with the medal won by the club.
