Okemesi Agog as Owa-Ooye installs Olaoye, Wife Otunba Gbobaniyi in blaze of glory

Illustrious sons and daughters of Okemesi, the Gateway to Ekitiland from Osun State, was last Saturday gathered in unison under the aegis of Federation of Okemesi Improvement Union (FOIU) for the installation of Engr. Nathaniel Oluremi Olaoye as Otunba Gbobaniyi and his wife Olayinka Asabi as Yeye Gbobaniyi of Okemesi-Ekiti.

The ancient town and home state of the renowned young bravery Ekitiparapo War hero and the Generalissimo, Prince Fabunmi Abe Oraralada went agog on Saturday the 5th of July, 2025.

It was an honour befitting a distinguished illustrious son, a philanthropist and scion of Olaoye Dynasty of Obalekosi compound of Itio street Okemesi-Ekiti, Engr. Nathaniel Oluremi Olaoye who was conferred with the chieftaincy titled of Otunba Gbobaniyi and his wife Olayinka as Yeye Gbobaniyi of Okemesi kingdom.

The historic occasion was marked with class, fun and glamour as the arrival of the celebrants who came from Abuja with his large entourage electrified the colourful event as he joined the crowd of jubilant indigenes who gathered to celebrate their beloved son at the Owa-Ooye Palace, Enuwa Square in Okemesi community.

Decked in all ..aso oke agbada attire with his lovely wife, name Asabi Olayinka, the new Otunba walked stylishly in magisterial dignity to pay his traditional homage to the royal father of the town, HRM Oba Michael Gbadebo Adedeji, JP, CON, the Owa-Ooye of Okemesi kingdom amidst cheers from the enthusiastic crowd.

It was a day which enjoys God’s approval with beautiful weather and enabling environment for music, dance and cultural display that made the day a huge success.

Then came the must expected moment when the Osorundi of Okemesi; Chief Olugbenga Babalola saddled with the traditional responsibility to announced the arrival and conferment of the chieftaincy title to the recipient before the large gathering and the new Chief stepped out with his elegantly-looking wife to receive the title.

Performing the final installation, HRM Oba Michael Gbadebo Adedeji described Chief Olaoye an outstanding committed philanthropist towards the town’s development and to both old and young in the community.

A philanthropist of high repute, Otunba Olaoye’s love for humanity is in paralleled as he has dedicated certain percentage of his income to benefit Okemesi community and also the less privileged, motherless children and old people’s homes.

According to the former chairman of Ekiti Council of Traditional Rulers; “Engr. Nathaniel Oluremi Olaoye’s mind of benevolence and his love for humanity found him worthy of being conferred with an honorary chieftaincy title. He is today being honoured by the Owa-Ooye and the entire Owa-Ooye-In-Council with Otunba Gbobaniyi and Yeye Gbobaniyi of Okemesi kingdom”.

Bubbling with joy, Oba Adedeji was profuse in fervent prayers for all his subjects for their onerous efforts at intervening in attempts to accelerate the development of the town.

Chief Olaoye in an interview with newsmen, thanked Oba Adedeji for the huge honour bestowed on him with the chieftaincy title saying that he was humbled by the gesture.

He pledged his unalloyed commitment to the development of the community in his capacity as Otunba Gbobaniyi of Okemesi-Ekiti.

Also, the duo of Yeye Gbobaniyi Olayinka Olaoye and the first son of the family, Mr Olamide Olaoye appreciate God Almighty for the successful outing as they applauded Oba Adedeji and the Owa-Ooye-In-Council for the unique honour as they rallying round before, during and after the ceremony.

According to them, “Engr. Olaoye exemplary leadership and as a season administrator with an outstanding public service career has touched many lives. He has demonstrated unwavering dedication and exceptional skills in navigating complex bureaucratic and technical landscapes”.

They also described the people of Okemesi community as very warm, lovely and accommodating as every yearly experiences are so amazing and worderful.

Guests were later moved to a spacious and well decorated Saint Michael Anglican Hall, Odoowo street, along Ilesa road in Okemesi where a superlative reception was held to entertained guests to stupours and to the satisfaction of all, amid important dignitaries who graced the one-in-town occasion.

Chairman of the occasion and the Owa-Ooye of Okemesi with his Olori, the celebrants was ably supported on the podium by the likes of Chief Adebayo Ayodele, Mr Jeremiah Olugbenga Oluwaniyi, Hon. Sunday Owolabi Ajibade, Mr Segun Oluokun, Hon. Johnson Oyekola Bode-Adeoye and Rev. Abiodun Omooba-Iye.

On the band stand was the young promising Juju maestro, Ola-Michael who, with his band members, rendered beautiful and songs and dances in a manner that suggest that he knows his onions and the career in the entertainment industry.

Obviously, it was a glorious moment for the town’s monarch, the Owa-Ooye of Okemesi Kingdom, His Imperial Majesty Oba Michael Gbadebo Adedeji, his Chiefs, prominent sons and daughters of the ancient town.

From all indications, it was an outing worth celebrating as there’s no doubt that the Beauty of Success is Success itself, as it aptly reflects in the life of the newly installed Otunba Gbobaniyi and Yeye Gbobaniyi of Okemesi-Ekiti, the Gateway to Ekiti State.

The epoch event had in attendance high profile personalities from all walks of life which includes; members of The Likes Group (TLG) ably led by immediate past Mayor Shina Bode-Adeoye, Chairman of Ekiti State Internal Revenue Services (EKIRS), Mr Olaniran Olatona, Owa-Ooye-In-Council, FOIU National Executive and Branch Chairmen, members of New Era Club, guests from Ile Asao Odoobi and the Obalekosi from Itio street, friends, associates and families, among other.
