The Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, officially declared open the 2025 edition of the Nigeria Oil and Gas (NOG) Energy Week in Abuja, calling on stakeholders across the energy value chain to embrace innovation, collaboration, and adaptability in a rapidly evolving global energy landscape.
Speaking during the opening ceremony on Monday, June 30, 2025, Ojulari emphasized the importance of knowledge sharing and technology in driving growth and sustainability in Africa’s energy sector.
“NOG Energy Week gives us an opportunity to project technology, foster collaboration, and share knowledge—not just for Nigeria, but for the entire African continent,” he said.
“There are a lot of exhibitions; let’s take time to learn. What you knew yesterday may not necessarily be what applies today,” the GCEO added.
Highlighting the event’s core theme, Ojulari noted that energy security remains a central focus for the continent’s growing population and urged Nigeria and other African countries to take on more leadership roles in the global energy dialogue.
“This is our opportunity to connect, to collaborate, and to lead with purpose in the global energy dynamics,” he stated before officially declaring the NOG Energy Week 2025 open.
Exhibitors Showcase Innovation and Optimism
Standard Times Nigeria correspondent went around and confirmed that exhibitors showcased innovation and optimism, as over 7,000 delegates from across Africa and beyond are expected to attend the event, which features a wide array of exhibitions from key industry players.
One such exhibitor, Lemax Lithium-Ion Energy Storage Solutions, expressed optimism about the platform’s potential. Umar Dili, a Director at the company, said their presence aims to promote lithium battery technology as the future of power.
“Lemax lithium is the future. We are here to show the world how solar and lithium storage are set to revolutionize energy access,” Dili told Standard Times Nigeria.
Tantita Security Services Nigeria Ltd. also showcased its achievements in combating oil theft and illegal bunkering. Administrative Manager Daisy Jaja, along with Head of Technical Roland Isereke and Operations Lead Emmanuel Akpule, said the company has helped reduce oil vandalism significantly.
“We’ve curbed over 90% of illegal bunkering activities, which has translated into a recovery of 1.7 million barrels in production,” the team reported.
They also called for greater awareness around environmental hazards such as land pollution and urged broader national sensitization.
Human Capital Development Takes Center Stage
The event’s first-day sessions also featured a high-level panel on “Human Capital Development for the Future of Energy,” where speakers stressed the need to equip youth and local communities with the skills to drive Africa’s energy future.
One of the panelists, Umesh Amarnani, Director at Pacegate Energy and Resources Limited (PEARL), emphasized Nigeria’s strategic role in global energy supply.
“The world is coming to Nigeria for solutions. Our youth must harness the country’s abundant natural and human resources,” he advised.

The 2025 NOG Energy Week runs from June 30 to July 3, 2025. With robust participation from policymakers, industry leaders, and investors, the coming days are expected to yield actionable insights, partnerships, and policy direction for the continent’s energy future.
