Hon Olalekan Isikalu has appealed to Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, Sen. Olamilekan Adeola Yayi, Hon. Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, and elected political office holders in Yewa to facilitate the rehabilitation of bad roads in Ogun West Senatorial District.
Olalekan made this appeal when he saw a viral video where students and traders were waddling through a muddy stillwater as a result of the bad road at Ijoun to Ayetoro, as water has flooded the normal routes to their schools and marketplaces.
Ijoun to Ayetoro and other roads leading to Ijoun in Ogun West have become troubled spots and are unpassable for motorists, okada riders, and pedestrians, especially the younger ones who are Nigeria’s greater tomorrow, as the roads are now waterlogged.
Among the roads that are in bad conditions in Ogun West senatorial district include Ijoun to Saala, Sunwa to Ayetoro, which are now impassable beyond their initial state, since the rainy season started.
Olalekan urged Gov. Dapo Abiodun, Sen. Olamilekan Adeola Yayi, and other political office holders to urgently proffer solutions to the suffering being encountered by residents of the areas.
He stated that good and motorable roads should be prioritized by governments and made available to the citizens as soon as the electorate has elected them into office.
”The bad condition of the roads has been a nightmare, an untold hardship to the farmers and traders to move their produce and goods bought in the villages along the axis to markets and towns to sell”
He emphasized the dangers posed by the waterlogged to the students, adding that they may be carried away, and the students can contract harmful bacteria as they wade through the dirty flood.
Isikalu commended Gov. Dapo Abiodun for rehabilitating many roads across the state. He implored the governor to do the same to dilapidated roads at Ketu in Yewa North of the Ogun West senatorial district.
He also implored Senator Olamilekan Adeola Yayi and other elected political office holders representing the senatorial district at all levels to collaborate and ensure the timely rehabilitation of bad roads in Ketu.
