President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, commissioned the newly completed Arterial Road N16 (Shehu Shagari Way) in the Katampe District of Abuja, a flagship project under his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The road project, which links Nnamdi Azikiwe Expressway (Ring Road 1) to Arterial Road N20 (Wole Soyinka Way), is expected to ease traffic congestion in Central Abuja and boost connectivity to developing districts like Katampe, Jahi, and Mabushi.

This was contained in a press statement from Rabi Umaru Musa, the Assistant Director, Press Office of the Minister, on Wednesday.

The road spans 3.7 kilometers, including two interchanges, and connects key districts in Abuja. The project links Maitama District in Phase I of the city to Katampe District in Phase II, extending up to Jahi District by Wole Soyinka Way.

The President emphasized that infrastructure is crucial for national growth and social integration.
– Urban Transformation: Tinubu stressed that the completion of the Arterial Road N16 project affirms his administration’s commitment to urban transformation under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He commended FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and his team for their dedication and collaborative approach in completing the project.

He therefore disclosed that communities along the road corridor received 200% compensation, ensuring seamless project execution.

Barr Ezenwo Nyesom Wine reassured President Tinubu that no contract awarded under the FCT Administration would be abandoned, vowing to complete virtually all awarded contracts by the President’s third year in office.
