Acting Gov, council chair visits flood victims, commends relief efforts in Mokwa

The Acting governor of Niger state, Comarade Yakubu Garba accompanied by Mokwa council boss, Hon. (Amb.) Jibril Abdullahi Muregi, paid a sympathy and site visit to victims of the recent flood disaster that ravaged some parts of Mokwa township.
In the entourage of the Acting Governor of the State, Comrade Yakubu Garba; are Hon. Zakari Ndagi Kinbokun, Member Representing Mokwa Constituency; Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Hon. Ahmed Baba Suleiman Yumu; APC State Deputy Chairman, Hon. Zakari Rabba; Alh. Shehu Edogi, APC State Ex Officio; NSUBEB Board Member I, Hajiya Kaka Wabi; APC Zone ‘A’ Chairman, Hon. Shuaibu Ibn Ahmed (Yaminin), Representative of Etsu Nupe, Pharm Yahaya Aliyu; Mayakin Nupe, Haj. Hauwa Koroka; APC Zone Woman Leader.
Describing the incident as a tragic natural disaster, the acting governor noted that thousands have been displaced, lives lost and many injured.
He appreciated the swift response of the State Government under the able leadership of Governor Mohammed Umar Bago and commended the Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Mrs. Zubaida Umar, Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), IOM, Red Cross Nigeria, other organizations and individuals for their timely support.
However, the Council boss, announced that the Council has provided an educational facility as a temporary shelter for the victims, while efforts are ongoing to mobilize additional support.
He assured residents of the Council’s continued commitment and prayed against a recurrence of such calamity.
