Coalition of South East youth leaders (COSEYL), the apex sociopolitical youth group in the South East geopolitical zone, has called on the Governor of Enugu state, Peter Mbah, to resign from office over security failures in Enugu state.
The group made this call in a press release signed by its General President, comrade Goodluck Ibem, and available to our reporter in Umuahia on Wednesday.
The group said that they are alarmed over the recent brutal killing of three innocent students returning from school who where ambushed and killed along Ogurugu – Ugbamaja road, Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State, by Fulani terrorists parading as herdsmen is a stark reminder of the egregious failure of Governor Peter Mbah to ensure the safety and security of lives and property in the state.
“This is not the first or tenth time the good people of the state have protested over the killings by Fulani terrorists, calling on the governor to stop the killing by the herdsmen, and he has not done anything to stop the killings. The silence by the governor in this instance is not golden. His primary duty is to protect the lives and property of the people, and he has failed woefully.
“As the Chief Security Officer of the state, it is appalling that Governor Peter Mbah seems more focused on building roads and houses while citizens are being slaughtered daily. The prioritization of infrastructure projects over citizens’ lives is unconscionable and a clear dereliction of duty,” the release stated.
The group stated that if all the citizens are killed by Fulani terrorists as a result of the Governor’s negligence and lackadaisical attitude towards the security of lives and property in the state, who will drive on the roads built and live in the houses?
They called for his immediate resignation from office for his inability to protect the people he swore to serve.
“The people of Enugu State deserve better. We demand a Governor who will prioritize their safety and security above all else,” the release concludes.
