The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has announced plans to establish new bus terminals in the Bwari and Gwagwalada Area Councils to enhance transportation in the FCT.
In a recent press statement from Umar Rabi Musa, the Assistant Director, Press and Public Relations Officer of the Minister, over the weekend, the Minister of the FCT, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, made the announcement during an inspection of road projects in the area.
The new bus terminals will complement existing facilities in the city centre, improving transportation for residents and addressing the menace of car robbery, commonly known as: “One chance.” The Minister emphasized that the terminals will ensure safe and secure travel from Bwari and Gwagwalada to various parts of the city.
Barrister Wike also highlighted the role of road infrastructure in driving development, citing its impact on access to education, healthcare, and agricultural produce. He inspected ongoing road construction projects in Gwagwalada and Kwali Area Councils, praising the contractor for the quality of infrastructure.
He reiterated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to bridging infrastructural gaps in the FCT, emphasizing the focus on developing satellite towns. He highlighted ongoing projects, including the 12-kilometer road project linking Ushafa area and the dualization of the Kuje-Gwagwalada road.
Barrister Wike stressed that providing basic amenities in satellite towns will curb rural-to-urban migration, driven by lack of infrastructure in rural areas. He emphasized that infrastructure development will reduce travel times, encourage people to reside in satellite towns, and decongest the city.
